Camp Bashor

The San Diego-Imperial Council, Boy Scouts of America has made a positive difference in the lives of the County’s youth for over 100 years through programs that instill character, inspire citizenship and foster leadership. These programs are best delivered in “outdoor classrooms” or camps where youth can learn life-long skills in connection to the natural world.

For decades local families and community leaders have envisioned a campground in the South County region where youth and adults involved in Scouting, other nonprofit organizations and the community at large could enjoy the outdoors. Thanks to County Supervisor Greg Cox and the San Diego-Imperial Council, Boy Scouts of America, Camp Bashor at Otay Lakes is the realization of that vision.

In July 2018, the County of Board of Supervisors approved the lease of a 69-acre facility and the environmental review process to approve the campground began in earnest. When complete, Camp Bashor at Otay Lakes will greatly enhance the park’s facilities serving South Bay families, community organizations and, of course, Scouting.

You are cordially invited to become a philanthropic partner in this landmark project. We are extremely grateful for your consideration of a gift to Camp Bashor at Otay Lakes that will benefit youth and families in the South Bay.
